Access Mac’s shared folders from Windows Vista

January 1, 2008 at 1:38 pm | Posted in Apple, Windows | 1 Comment

I have enabled Windows Sharing in Mac; and for some reasons I’m unable to access my Mac folders via Vista’s Network and Sharing Center… I see the shared folder but cannot access to it. There is an alternate way to do it…In Windows Vista, click Start -> Run; type \\macname\username. You can substitute macname with its IP address and the username is your Mac’s login.

  1. Thanks mister this was a great hint for me. I was trying to find my other Windows XP machine from my vista laptop to transfer the “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” movie I downloaded as a torrent! So I just typed the IP of my XP machine in the “Start > Run” and woilah! it worked! It will be done in 11 mints and 35 seconds. Thanks again! Happy New Year!
