Networking Windows Vista Home Premium to Mac

December 27, 2007 at 3:11 am | Posted in Windows | Leave a comment

I experienced a difficulty to connect my laptop running Vista Home Premium to a Mac running OSX. Both machines are in the same workgroup and seeing each other, but can’t login even though I have correct login information. Error: Windows suggests to check user name and password.

After googling, I modified Windows LAN Manager security settings in regedit and reboot the computer.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA\

Change the key LmCompatibilityLevel from “3” to “1”.
